  • Alphabet: A–Z (uppercase only)
  • Numbers: 0–9
  • symbol: . , ( ) / - &

Generally, 15 characters per line and a maximum of 5 lines is recommended (this may vary depending on the device).

Writing tips

  • Names are written in Hepburn romanization (e.g. Saito → SAITO, Ota → OOTA)
  • Date of birth: English month name, such as 21 JUN. 1973
  • Blood type: A POS / O NEG (Rh type)
  • Gender: M / F
  • Religion: CATHOLIC / BAPTIST / EPISCOPALIAN / JEWISH / BUDDHIST / NONE etc.

Can the contents of the two-disc set be purchased separately?

The plates are identical . The US military also requires two identical plates, with one plate carried as a spare (backup) . Individual plates are also available for purchase in stores.

What if there aren't enough characters?
