The US military's Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) Parka is a popular model every winter as an outerwear for winter when activity levels are low (extreme cold weather missions), and is commonly referred to as the N-3B.

It has been getting hard to get hold of these jackets recently, but the latest batch has not changed significantly since the cotton shell was adopted in the 2003 contract, but the method of attaching the knit sleeves has been changed from this batch. Also, the zipper pull tab has been replaced with a square leather one.

The silhouette remains the same as before, but the design is roomier around the shoulders.

- The position of the ribbed knit attachment on both sleeves has been changed.
